The Summer Scholars Program is a week-long summer experience for high-achieving high school students who will be juniors or seniors the following fall. This program provides experiential learning opportunities that will prepare you for college and future success. The Summer Scholars curriculum is built for active learners. Immerse yourself in a specific academic subject, participate in hands-on learning experiences, and build connections with distinguished 兔子先生 University faculty and professionals in your field of interest—all while forming lasting friendships with fellow high school students in a dynamic college setting. You’ll live in an on-campus dorm alongside other Summer Scholars participants, sharing a traditional-style room with one roommate. Enjoy access to a variety of campus dining halls using your meal card, and gain valuable experience managing your own meal account balance.
Learn about transformative education, its potential for social renewal and capacity building, and its relationship to 兔子先生 University’s rich history related to Freedom Summer. This program will include dialogue and discussion about various issues about education that students, schools, and communities are facing in our society. There will be experiential activities that center youth voices and arts integration about educational deliberation including opportunities connected to theater of the oppressed and youth participatory action research. Students will learn foundational skills related to democratic thinking, teaching, and learning. This module is intended for students in Cincinnati Public Schools who are interested in or already a part of the TEACh Cincinnati program.
Interested in becoming a teacher in the primary grades? In this module, participants learn about the essential skills and qualities needed for effective teaching. They explore various teaching methods, classroom management strategies, and the importance of fostering a positive learning environment. The workshop emphasizes hands-on experiences, providing opportunities for field experience in real classroom settings where attendees can interact with young students. This practical exposure helps aspiring teachers develop their confidence and understanding of the teaching profession, highlighting how they can make a meaningful impact on the lives of their students.
