ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University offers several events and opportunities over the summer for high school students.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University offers two major Open House events each year for prospective students:

Spring Open House

• Typically held in April
• Participants are high school sophomores and juniors (and their families)
• You can choose up to three separate sessions, including departmental presentations, campus tours, and resource fairs

Fall Open House

• Choose either focused academic‑division tours or customizable agendas across EHS and other colleges
• Includes admission/finaid info, lunch, residence hall tours, and opportunities to meet faculty and staff and ask questions.

During these open houses, incoming students can attend sessions hosted by EHS faculty and staff—where they can:

• Explore Teaching, Curriculum & Educational Inquiry programs, including licensure pathways and subject-specific tracks
• Ask questions directly—faculty, program coordinators like the AYA program lead, and current students are present to answer questions about curriculum structure, field placements, cohort model, teaching methods, and more
• Attend panel or Q&A presentations to learn more about instructor expectations, practicum placements, cohort progression benchmarks
• Tour McGuffey Hall, the hub for EHS administration and many departmental offices on campus

Make It ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú!

This full-day on-campus event is designed for admitted students and their families to meet nationally ranked faculty and current ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú students, learn about academic and extracurricular opportunities, and explore residential options. Reservations are first-come, first-served.

Program Schedule

• Check-In 8:00-8:45 a.m.
• Welcome 9:00-9:30 a.m.
• Student and Family Panels 9:40-10:30 a.m.
• Academic Divisional Breakout Sessions 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Students and their families will learn more about their academic division of interest.
• Optional Afternoon Activities 1-3:30 p.m.
  • Make the afternoon yours. Pick and choose from an array of presentations, tours, open houses, advising sessions, and more.

Your first academic advising meeting will take place during the orientation program you attend prior to your start at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú.  During this meeting, the advisor will talk with you about your interests and goals, review any incoming credit, and construct a plan for course registration.  You will also register for your first semester courses during this program, and advisors will be available to assist you with that process. You will not be able to register for classes until you meet with your advisor at Orientation.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University supports future educators in staying connected through several avenues, including dedicated programs like TEACh Cincinnati, which addresses teacher shortages and promotes diversity, and ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Alumni Connect, a networking platform connecting students with alumni for mentorship and career guidance. Additionally, professional organizations like the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University Council for Teachers of Mathematics (MUCTM) offer opportunities to attend conferences for networking with professionals and preservice teachers.

TEACh Cincinnati

This program specifically aims to recruit and support aspiring teachers, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, through partnerships with Cincinnati Public Schools and offers academic, social, and financial support, as well as expanded employment opportunities.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Alumni Connect

This online platform allows students to sign up and connect with ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú alumni in various industries, filtering by keywords, industry, location, or major, and setting up informational interviews or mentorship conversations.

Professional Organizations

Student organizations like the MUCTM encourage participation in conferences and events where future educators can network with classroom teachers, administrators, educational coaches, and other preservice teachers.

Career Center Resources

The university's Career Center offers resources for networking, including attending career fairs and utilizing platforms like LinkedIn.

Experiential Learning

The College of Education, Health, and Society (EHS) emphasizes hands-on experiences, internships, and research opportunities within its programs, providing practical connections and skill-building relevant to future teaching careers.
