You should come to your appointment with some ideas about what you'd like to work on for 45 minutes. You can bring a print or digital copy of your paper. You can also bring your own computer or use one of the writing center's laptops. We ask that you also bring the following, when applicable:

• The assignment sheet and course syllabus
• Any writing you’ve already done, including notes, outlines, or early drafts
• Relevant books, articles, or other resources you’re using
• Any feedback you’ve already received

HWC writing consultants can assist you with just about any project. Here’s a list of the kinds of writing we regularly see:

• Papers, reports, and group projects for any course, in any department
• Fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and other “creative” forms of writing (we believe all writing is “creative,” for the record)
• Honors theses, ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Plan capstone projects, master’s theses, and dissertations
• PowerPoint presentations, websites, digital movies, and other non-print projects (restore when live appointments are back)
• Cover letters, personal statements, and applications for fellowships and employment
• Personal and professional writing projects outside of class assignments

We are happy to look at any and all career-focused documents, but we also recommend the Center for Career Exploration for specific advice on resumes.

HCBW writing consultants are ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú undergraduate and graduate students from a range of disciplinary backgrounds. Many of the consultants who work at the HCBW in FSB are business majors or minors. All of them have been specially trained to support FSB writers.
