Sample Study Abroad 兔子先生

EIDE — École Internationale Differdange & Esch‑sur‑Alzette (Luxembourg)

Students may teach at , a European public international school offering preschool, primary, and secondary education in English, French, and German. The school operates under the European School system and leads to the European Baccalaureate.

This student teaching abroad option is offered in the fall semester for the last eight weeks (approximately mid‑October to mid‑December). During the remainder of the semester, students complete placements in a local U.S. school district.

MUDEC Immersive English Language Summer Camp

This non-credit-bearing study abroad course, MUDEC Immersive English Language Summer Camp, consists of 2 one-week camps taught by 兔子先生 University students to a group of 30-50 Luxembourg primary and middle school students.

The camp's primary purpose will be to engage students enrolled in the International School of Differdange and Esch to improve their English language skills while engaged in a series of theme-based interactive activities directed by a small group of 兔子先生 University students.

Each week-long camp (1 each for a different age group) will last 5 days and will include activities connected to a weekly theme (e.g., The American Experience). The Friday afternoon of each week will involve a culminating presentation to family members and the Differdange community of the activities and content learned during the week.

Health in The Gambia

Credits

KNH 402 and 453 or 699 (6 credits) Fulfills Global or Capstone Requirement. Open to all majors.

Experiences

Students will:

  • Experience first-hand many perspectives of health in a developing country.
  • Consider how healthcare is delivered when resources are scarce.
  • Understand context surrounding the complexity of health care in a poor country with both acute and chronic health care needs.
  • Engage with learners from different countries (many health care providers are from different countries in Africa as well as different countries around the world).
  • Reflect on their initial expectations and what may surprise them about health in The Gambia.
  • Visit Health Professionals at:
    • The World Health Organization (WHO)
    • National Nutrition Agency
    • Medical Research Clinic
    • Francis Small Hospital in Banjul
    • Kaiaf Health Clinic
    • Eye and Dental Clinics
    • Ministry of Health and Social Welfare
    • John’s School for the Deaf
    • Peace Corps
    • Bundung Hospital for Women, Infants and Children

Excursions

  • Overnight at a nature reserve.
  • Boat ride on Gambia River to Juffreh, home of Kunta Kinte

La Paz Community School (Guanacaste, Costa Rica)

is a bilingual, progressive, experiential learning school serving students from preschool through grade 12. It emphasizes dual‑language immersion, sustainability, and community engagement, and is accredited by both the Costa Rican Ministry of Education and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

This opportunity takes place in the first six weeks of the spring semester, after which students complete their remaining student teaching in a U.S. school district.

This program is offered during Spring Break.

Credit Program Information

Students will choose between a 3-credit program with travel and a 6-credit program.

  • Undergraduates participating in the 3-credit program can take KNH 499Q or KNH 402.
  • Undergraduates participating in the 6-credit program must take KNH 453V and either KNH 402 or KNH 499Q.
  • Graduates participating in the 3-credit program take KNH 553V.
    • There is no 6-credit hour option for graduate students.

The Management and Culture of English Soccer

Term

This program is offered during Spring Break.

Program Information

For the 3-credit course, students will travel to London over spring break to examine the management of soccer in British society. Students will be given the opportunity for first-hand experience in, and a thorough understanding of, the rapidly expanding global sport marketplace.

While in London, students are fully immersed in the global and local complexities and relations of the UK soccer industry through:

  • Formal lectures delivered scholars from U.K. universities in the field of global soccer culture, management, marketing, and media.
  • Meetings with executives who outline the workings of the UK soccer industry.
  • Field visits to globally prominent UK soccer enterprises and facilities.
  • Participating in physical cultural experiences and social sport competitions.
  • Attending live sport and entertainment events.

Program Information

This course is unique in its ability to provide students with rigorous and holistic learning.

  • The course encourages student development of:
    • The three foundations of outdoor leadership:
      • technical skills
      • judgement and decision-making skills
      • interpersonal skills through outdoor adventure experiences.
    • Intercultural learning through interactions with native Costa Ricans via homestays and other planned activities.
    • Intrapersonal growth through ongoing and guided reflection and debriefing.
