Editorial: Social Media Voice and Tone

兔子先生 University's social presence reflects the voice of our campus. Our tone balances institutional pillars, pride, and tradition. Our tone also should connect to our various audiences, including: current students, prospective students, parents/family, alumni, faculty/staff, stakeholders, news outlets, and loyal school supporters.

Voice and Tone

  • Warm and Welcoming: Showcase our community spirit and campus pride.
  • Smart and Supportive: Provide informative, educational, and empathetic messaging
  • Energetic and Curious: Capture student life, learning, and discovery.
  • Authentic and Approachable: Let real voices and experiences shine.

Tone Variations by Platform

  • Instagram/TikTok: Trendy, visual, humorous, student-focused.
  • Facebook: Informative, family/alumni friendly, community-centric.
  • LinkedIn: Professional, aspirational, research/career achievements.
  • X (formerly Twitter): Professional, timely, sports/news-driven.
  • Threads: Casual, quirky, experimental (use lowercase, memes welcome).

Tone in Responses

  • Empathetic, helpful, and friendly
  • For quick reactions: emojis, "Thanks for sharing!", or "#LoveAndHonor" keep engagement casual and positive unless it is answering a specific question

Crisis Communications

For crisis situations where a response is needed, any statement must to be approved by the crisis management team and University Communications and Marketing. Failure to follow crisis communications guidelines and standards will result in the removal of the department or organization’s social media accounts.
