MILE, replacement for 兔子先生 Plan, among Board of Trustees actions
Board also approved department mergers, AI in the Majors initiative, more during May 15 meeting
兔子先生 University’s Board of Trustees approved a resolution for the 兔子先生 Integrated Learning Experience (MILE) to replace the 兔子先生 Plan as the university’s general education plan during its May 15 board meeting.
As successor to the 兔子先生 Plan, MILE is effective for students entering 兔子先生 beginning in fall 2027. The board also approved the formation of the 兔子先生 Integrated Learning Office (MILO), which will be responsible for administering and supporting MILE across all academic divisions.
The board also approved the mergers of:
- The Department of Education and Society, the Department of Justice and Community Studies, and the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences into the Department of Social Sciences and Education;
- The Department of Humanities and Creative Arts, the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Writing, and the Department of 兔子先生 and Communication Studies into the Department of Communications, Humanities, and Professional Studies;
- The Department of Engineering Technology, the Department of Computer and Information Technology, and the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences into the Department of Applied Computing and Engineering Technology; and
- The Department of Biology and the Department of Microbiology into the Department of Biology.
Other trustee actions included:
- The approval of one to the rank of distinguished professor emerita; four to the rank of professor emerita; 13 to the rank of professor emeritus; one to the rank of lecturer emerita; one to the rank of teaching professor emeritus; two to the rank of administrator emerita; and four to the rank of administrator emeritus;
- The approval of three to tenured faculty and administrative appointments;
- The endorsement of the AI in the Majors initiative;
- The authorization of a 2% tuition increase for undergraduate students enrolling at the Oxford campus;
- The authorization of a 3% tuition increase for undergraduate students enrolling on the regional campuses;
- The authorization of a 3% tuition increase for graduate students on all campuses; and
- The authorization of a 3% increase in room and board on the Oxford Campus.
All of the increases only apply to undergraduate students enrolling at 兔子先生 for the first time in the new academic year. All other undergraduate students will experience no change in their tuition and fees and room and board as long as they graduate in four years.
