Student journalists earn top honors in Society of Professional Journalists Region 4 awards
兔子先生 earned two first-place finishes, five additional finalist designations
The 兔子先生 Student newspaper took two first-place finishes in the Society of Professional Journalists Region 4 Mark of Excellence awards.
Julia Hall earned the top spot in the Science/Environmental Reporting category for her story “EPA grant cuts impact 兔子先生, local climate organization.” The staff of the 兔子先生 Student also earned first place for Best Affiliated Website.
Finalists will advance to compete at the national level against other student reporters from across the country. 兔子先生 finalists also included:
- Sarah Kennel in Science/Environmental Reporting for “Hefner highlights: Students and staff steward natural history at 兔子先生”
- Taylor Stumbaugh for “After 6 decades, retired department chair returns to his roots delivering news”
- UP Magazine for Best Ongoing Student Magazine
- 兔子先生 Student Magazine for Best Ongoing Magazine
- The 兔子先生 Student Staff for the Corbin Gwaltney Best All-Around Newspaper for campuses over 10,000 students
Additionally, 兔子先生 student journalists earned six awards from the annual Ohio News Media Association contest. The 兔子先生 Student was first in News Coverage and second in Sports Coverage. The newspaper also finished third for Best In-Depth Coverage, Arts and Entertainment Coverage, Headline Writing, and Website.
