Welcome to IT Services, Craig Martin!

Let's meet one of the newest members of the IT admin team!

Craig Martin stands next to the 兔子先生 M

Craig is an Administrative Assistant in IT Services, where he helps keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. His main responsibilities include managing TeamDynamix (TDX) tickets and approvals, handling invoices and requisitions, coordinating team travel, and managing the main operator line for both main and regional campuses. Craig says that his favorite part of the job is, “The incredible camaraderie and the supportive, appreciative culture within the IT Services Team.”

Craig is a long-time member of the 兔子先生 community. While working at 兔子先生 he earned an Associates degree in Social Sciences in 2008 and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology in 2016. Craig says that he enjoys the academic environment that 兔子先生 provides.

Craig and his wife

Craig has a very diverse work background. He has worked at 兔子先生 since 2006, with a short break that was spent at the University of Cincinnati. Over the years, he has also worked in transportation with 兔子先生 Metro (known as BCRTA now), delivered pizzas with Oxford Pizza Hut and Larosa’s, worked as a Realtor, and even served as a Firefighter/EMT for the City of Oxford. Craig says, “This varied experience has given me a unique perspective on community needs and a strong foundation in multi-tasking and problem-solving. Most of my adult life I've held at least 2 jobs at the same time with many years consisting of 3-5 jobs.”

When Craig is not at work, he enjoys being outdoors and exploring. He likes hiking, taking road trips to small-town shops and sceneries, visiting places like Brookville Lake for a day of fishing and relaxation, and going to car shows. He says he has a particular soft spot for Ford Mustangs.

When Craig was asked if there was anything else he would like to share, he said, “I grew up in a "doughnut family!" My grandparents and father owned and operated several local bakeries, including Irene's Do-Nuts and Martin's Do-Nuts. At one point, I was even a co-owner of Martin's Do-Nuts at the Trenton location.” (The Trenton shop has operated under new family ownership for roughly twenty years while retaining the historic Martin’s Do-Nuts name.)

Because of that, he has a strong appreciation for a high-quality, old-fashioned doughnut, especially glazed, maple iced, and custard-filled. He says. “I naturally compare everyone else's doughnuts to my grandparents and my dads. Ross Bakery is the closest competitor, but of course is 2nd place to my dad's and grandparents.”

Ford Mustang afficionado for life

Craig would also like everyone to know, “When you buy a new Mustang you have an opportunity to go to the Ford Performance Racing School in Charlotte, NC and drive the Dark Horse Mustangs on the NASCAR Charlotte Motor Speedway for FREE.” He said he was able to take his son Andrew, and split the driving experience behind the wheel with him. Craig said it was a very fun time for both of them and a great father-son bonding moment.

Craig is new to the IT Services team, and we’re excited to have him on board.

One more thing...

Craig comes to us from the Human Resources department, which is a great segue into this next topic: Human Resources recently moved in to Hoyt Hall (where the IT administrative department resides on the Oxford campus) and we want to formally and warmly welcome them to the neighborhood! It's wonderful to have new neighbors and we are enjoying the friendly hubbub in the building.

Welcome, friends!
