Myaamia Center

The Center, a ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Tribe of Oklahoma initiative located within an academic setting, serves the needs of the Myaamia people, ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University, and partner communities through research, education, and outreach that promote Myaamia language, culture, knowledge, and values.

Myaamia Winter Gathering

Each year Myaamia Center staff, Myaamia students, and ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University faculty travel to the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Tribe of Oklahoma’s headquarters in Oklahoma for the Tribe’s annual Winter Gathering and Stomp Dance celebration.

Educational ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú

Myaamia Students from ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University serve as counselors for the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Tribe of Oklahoma’s summer youth programs, Saakaciweeta (ages 6-9) and Eewansaapita (ages 10-16). The students help camp participants by modeling how to be good learners and community members.
