SOS: NCSAM request!

We’re currently losing to Ohio University! (In fact, you can check the scores at 兔子先生OH.edu/CyberMania.) If you know anyone who hasn’t yet taken the quiz, please share the news with them and encourage them to help us out!

As a reminder, we will be in the Armstrong Student Center on Friday, October 31. At the cybersecurity awareness table, you can learn about CyberMania, answer questions about phishing, and spin a prize wheel for cool Information Security swag.

See you there!

Phishing notice: Party invitations in personal email

The Information Security Office has seen a significant uptick in threat actors sending emails containing party invites to unsuspecting folks at 兔子先生.

It works like this: You get an invitation in your inbox, usually for a party, with a card attached to the email. When you click to go to the website that hosts the invite for more information, the site automatically starts to download something called a remote access Trojan (RAT). Do not run those files. They will give those threat actors access to your computer.

More information can be found at our Phish Bowl.

More security news: Global settings change coming soon to 兔子先生 Google Calendars

On November 24, the "Add invitations to my calendar" default setting will change to “Only if the sender is known”. This change is taking place to help combat a significant increase in phishing attempts via Google Calendar.
